I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Williams in Cairo, Egypt for about (5) years when she was Head of the English Department at a well established International School. She was probably one of the most fair and easy to get along with bosses I've ever had the opportunity to work with. Her willingness to go above and beyond to pull more than her share of the weight, making sure that her employees weren't overworked was more than obvious as well as her caring nature towards her students and staff in general. I'm not surprised that she is now running her own school and an 'alternative' school at that. Ms. Williams always had a belief system in 'individual learning and thinking' - the students are lucky to have her. The parents are lucky to have her. Actually, we were all lucky to have had her. I wish her nothing but the best. - Avi K.
My child is currently enrolled at The Learning Lab and although we were reluctant at first due to the thought of him not having enough socialization, we feel we made the best academic decision for him possible. Working with the Williams' has been a positive experience and I would highly recommend the school to anyone 'teetering' with the idea. - L.M.
(Translated into English for parent) Last year my son graduated from The Learning Lab. He is the first generation to graduate in the United States and when he enrolled his English was only 'fair'. Working with Mr. and Mrs. Williams he was able to gain his self esteem and want to finish high school. This meant the world to our family. He learned more than academics at The Lab. He learned responsibility and what the importance of having a high school diploma means. I owe my sons future to Mr. and Mrs. Williams. Without their support, I don't know where my son would be today. L. Perez
My child has a number of learning disabilities that were keeping her from excelling in a TUSD school setting. The Learning Lab was our last hope although I had very little hope at all by the time we found them. It was only a short time before I realized that most of the problem wasn't my daughter at all, it was the way she was being taught, or not being taught. At The Learning Lab, every student is on their own individualized lesson plan and what works for them, works for them. Self esteem has been regained, learning is taking place and an entire turn around in attitude about school has become obvious. Thank you to The Learning Lab is what I've got to say. It's a shame there aren't more schools like this out there. Patsy. J
We've used The Learning Lab for years for after school tutoring, from it's first owner to this owner. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Love their belief system and attitude toward children. K.T.
My son is Autistic and attends this school. I absolutely love their approach and patience with him. He has learned more there in the months he's attended than he has in the years he's spent elsewhere. I wish I had found them sooner. Lesson learned! Diana. C
GREAT place for kids with learning disabilities of any kind. Because of their motto that each child moves along at their own pace, it just works. Thank God we found them when we did. It was a struggle with every other school but as of yet, it's been nothing but easy street dealing with this one. Rita. L
Highly organized and caring staff. Willing to work with your kids as opposed to just teaching your kids. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Stacey Remi
My son is Autistic and loves this place. He's particular about places and people. I was worried about him being able to bond and settle in. It took less than a week and he was looking forward to going to school on a daily basis. The Williams have a way with kids that is highly unique. Thank God for this school. M. S.
Upon enrollment I didn't think my student would be able to learn much in a three hour work day and a four day work week. I was wrong. It's a self paced program so it's basically up to the student what she wants to learn and how quick she wants to finish. With the ratio of three students to one teacher, it's comparable to one on one teaching. My daughter has completed 2 years of high school in 15 months. That couldn't happen anywhere else. I love this place. Many thanks to The Learning Lab. Sally Luhan
Great summer school program and easy hours to follow. Affordable prices and friendly staff. Will use them again for after school tutoring once school starts. O. Martinez
I would have to say this is one of the best choices in Tucson for the student with 'special needs.' There's really nothing I can say here to convince you. Make an appointment and check it out for yourself. Best advice I can give. Ken W.
Perhaps some of the most professional and empathetic staff I've come across since I've relocated here and searched for the perfect school for my son. Even though they were not the right fit, Mrs. Williams did not give up until she found the right fit for my child. That is true professionalism. Debra C.
This has been the only school in the area that my son has felt comfortable in. He's allowed to work at his own pace, there's Instructors available if he needs one on one assistance, and he will be graduating 15 months early due to the encouragement and constant assistance from the staff pulling him through. When I enrolled him, I was worried he would graduate a year late. It's been a blessing for us. A literal blessing. Cindee K.
My student is first generation High School Graduation in the United States. He chose to do the Accelerated High School Diploma Program. It took him a little longer than planned but he made it! We are so proud to have a first generation graduate. He could not have done it in a regular high school. Thank you to The Learning Lab. Anna Martinez.
Best advice I can give is if you're considering this school, stop by unannounced when learning is taking place and see what's going on. You'll be amazed that for such a small place, the organization and engagement that the students are involved in. It's real hands on learning as well as independent learning going on. Check it out for yourself. Highly impressive. Best place I've seen thus far. Dave B.
Well worth the dollar! Every dime spent there I knew where it was going. My student learned so much at The Lab in the year he attended that he not only caught up what he missed in public school, but he was ahead when he jumped back in to graduate with his friends. Best choice we could have made for our child. Thank you, Learning Lab. F & B Lowery
Probably one of the best math tutors in town. Mr. Williams has a waiting list, I know. If it weren't for him last year My senior would not have graduated. Many thanks Mr. Williams! Lysa Mann
Excellent with the 'little ones' - I have two there now. They come home with smiles and stories of what they've learned in the summer school program and I couldn't be happier. I'm extremely happy with my choice this year. I plan to keep my children going for after school tutoring once the school year begins.
Mr. and Mrs. Williams have done an excellent job at keeping the school as close to the way it was when Ms. Mary Johnson had it years ago. They've brought life back into the center that wasn't there a few years ago. There's a few more tools for the learning 'challenged' and a bit more Professional Development going on but that comes with the territory and day and age. They're doing a wonderful job at keeping the reputation of the school in good standing and the turn out of the students excellent as it was before. I can't think of a better place to enroll your student if your child is challenged with the day to day humdrum of public schooling. Stop by and see what they have to offer!. ~ Just a fan of their work~ G.K.
Literally the best choice we could have made for our kids this summer. Both would never have retained the new math and one needed a little reinforcement with reading. The Williams and their staff have gone above and beyond thus far to ensure that the needs of our children are being met and even changing their schedule to meet ours. Our highest praises and utmost respect for their theory of teaching. Mr. & Mrs. K. T.
I had only intended on enrolling my student for summer school to prepare him for his upcoming year in 9th grade. Turns out, I've enrolled him to attend The Learning Lab as a full time student I'm so impressed with the Williams' view on teaching. Great job and great school. An entirely different approach to teaching. Rainey Z.
Mrs. Williams is one of the most giving and caring Educators I've come across since moving to Tucson. If she can't provide the services you need, she will help you find what you're looking for outside of her school. She took the time off the clock (personal weekend time) to provide me with the correct information that the school district itself was giving me the run around about. This is absolutely the best place to go for guidance and caring when it comes to what's best for your child's education. Jen F.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Williams have went out of their way to make sure my daughter felt comfortable with transitioning into her new environment at their school. I've never come across such caring Educators. This is what Tucson needs. This is what the Education System needs. Thank you, Learning Lab!!!! Monique
It's a small place, but comfortable with a 'Zen' that the kids need. The Williams allow a freedom to learn that's not seen in the typical classroom, yet with structure that's not choking to the student. My son came to life there. He actually enjoys school now and comes home every day with something new he's learned or some funny story about how something was explained that made learning so much easier. WHERE was this school when I needed it five years ago? I wish I would have known about it then. Thank you both, Mr. and Mrs. Williams. Your hard work is appreciated. J.W.
